Personal Motto: Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication.
With over 14 years of experience in the construction industry, Yannie brings a thoughtful and steady approach to her work. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at DK Outsource, she works across construction contracts, cost and commercial matters, including reviewing contractual documents, assessing claims and variations, and supporting project teams in contract administration.
For Yannie, what makes construction contracts particularly interesting is how they bring clarity to responsibilities, expectations and decisions. Having spent much of her career on the contractor side, she has developed an understanding of the commercial realities of construction projects. Moving into a consultant-side role offers her an opportunity to broaden her perspective and continue growing in her
profession.
Over the years, Yannie has been involved in complex projects, including Singapore’s North–South Corridor. Rather than pointing to just one defining achievement, she values the experiences that have shaped her along the way. Navigating challenging contract and commercial responsibilities has taught her to stay resilient, approach difficulties calmly and remain open to learning.
Looking ahead, Yannie hopes to deepen her knowledge of construction law and strengthen her consultant-side contract administration skills. She is particularly interested in finding ways to make complicated contractual matters easier to understand and apply. For her, being able to communicate
clearly and see different perspectives is just as valuable as understanding the technical details.
Beyond construction, Yannie has a keen interest in human psychology and personal growth. She finds it fascinating to understand how people think, communicate and make decisions. If she could instantly become an expert in any subject, it would be human psychology and communication, allowing her to better understand different perspectives in both work and everyday life.
When she isn’t at her desk, Yannie enjoys yoga, reading and having some peaceful time to herself. Whether it is getting lost in a good book or simply slowing down after a busy week, she appreciates the little moments that help her recharge.
Music is another favourite, and Jay Chou is undoubtedly her all-time favourite artist and idol. Her reading interests are just as varied, ranging from construction contracts to personal growth, with a particular appreciation for ideas that offer a fresh perspective.
Yannie also has a soft spot for dogs. Bobby, who was her companion throughout her teenage years, and Jojo, who kept her parents company after she and her sister moved away for work and studies, both hold a special place in her family’s memories.
When it comes to advice, one message has stayed with her:
“You don’t have to be the best. Focus on getting better, and keep rising.”
It is a philosophy that reflects Yannie’s outlook on work and life. For her, growth is not about being perfect, but about continuing to learn, staying resilient and becoming a little better along the way.
