Steven

Personal Motto: Live in the Moment

Over the past three years at DK Outsource, Steven has built a reputation for something many project teams value immensely: staying calm when the pressure is on.

As a Quantity Surveyor, Steven’s role involves everything from preparing tender documents and reports to assessing variation claims and managing valuations for payment certificates. While every project brings its own challenges, he enjoys being part of the process that helps keep construction projects running smoothly and commercially on track.

Steven’s interest in Quantity Surveying began during his university studies. What started as an academic interest quickly developed into a rewarding career, giving him the opportunity to work closely with project teams and navigate the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects.

One project that stands out in particular is the 12 Upper Wilkie Road development. Faced with a tight timeline and more than 50 variation orders to manage, Steven successfully finalised and closed the project’s final account. It remains one of his proudest achievements since joining DK and a testament to his attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.

When asked to describe the DK team, Steven’s answer was simple: supportive, collaborative and professional. It’s this environment that has encouraged him to continue developing his skills and expanding his knowledge within the industry.

Looking ahead, Steven is focused on strengthening his project Quantity Surveying and management capabilities, particularly in cost management, contractual administration and the wider QS process. Like many successful professionals, he believes there is always something new to learn.

Outside the office, Steven enjoys keeping life simple. His ideal weekend involves spending quality time with family, enjoying good food and taking a break from work. He also enjoys discovering new places, whether that’s exploring a different destination or finding a hidden food gem along the way.

If he could instantly become an expert in any subject, it wouldn’t be construction. Instead, Steven would choose investment and financial planning, combining his practical mindset with a desire to prepare for the future.

His love of exploration extends to travel as well. Given the opportunity, he’d head straight to Egypt to see the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the world’s most remarkable ancient wonders.

When it comes to music, Steven appreciates timeless classics and would happily listen to Johann Pachelbel’s Canon in D on repeat. And while he isn’t a collector, he’s always interested in discovering useful gadgets and new technology.

One piece of advice has stayed with him throughout his personal and professional journey:

“Always stay positive, keep learning and never stop improving yourself.”

It’s a mindset that perfectly reflects Steven’s approach to both work and life.
