Managing Costs Across Healthcare Facility Upgrades
The Addition and Alteration (A&A) Works at Block E, Mount Alvernia Hospital involved improvements to the existing three-storey patient wards from Levels 3 to 5, replacement of the existing roof, and the addition of a new patient lift/fire lift and staircase serving Levels 1 to 5.
Carrying out multiple improvement works within an existing hospital facility requires careful planning and commercial oversight. The combination of refurbishment works, roof replacement, and new vertical circulation facilities required costs to be assessed and monitored across the different stages of the project. As the consultant quantity surveyor, we provided quantity surveying and commercial management services to support the project. Our role included cost planning, cost monitoring, variation assessment, and contract administration, helping stakeholders maintain financial oversight throughout the works.
